Parenting Workshops

I regularly lead workshops on parenting topics for schools, community centres and other groups. I usually work with families with children under 6, or sometimes up to 12 years old. Here are a few of my favourite topics

Family Literacy – anything from family story time to discussions with parents about how children learn language, or what sorts of things will help them to learn to read and write.

Self Care – parents often put their needs last in the long list of things that need to get done. Find how why making time to do the things that give you joy is not only important, it is the most important parenting skill you can have.

Managing Anger – we all get angry, it is normal and perfectly okay. However, the way that we express our anger may be a problem.

Positive Discipline – it is possible to successfully guide our children to adulthood without hurting, shaming or spoiling them.

Nobody’s Perfect – this is a six week parenting series designed to help parents to build confidence in their knowledge and abilities.

Family FUNdamentals – I am the provincial coordinator for this new family program which addresses behaviours and attitudes that may lead to eating disorders.
